Most car buyers assume customization stops at paint color and wheel options. But one Toyota RAV4 buyer learned—much too late—that things can go far beyond the factory order sheet.
In a viral TikTok video with more than 1.2 million views, car saleswoman Soph revealed that her customer had her RAV4 fitted with a fully custom pink leather interior. The transformation turned a standard black SUV into something straight out of a Pinterest board.
The buyer’s all-pink aesthetic wasn’t random. Dressed head-to-toe in pink, she asked for a matching interior, complete with bubblegum-colored leather accented by black trim. The result stunned viewers and sparked a flood of comments from people realizing this kind of customization was even possible.
Soph explained that virtually any color can be done—pink, lavender, electric blue—on nearly any vehicle, as long as buyers are willing to pay. The work is typically handled by specialized upholstery partners rather than the automaker itself.
That willingness comes at a price. Industry estimates suggest full interior customizations can range anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000, depending on materials and labor. Skilled upholstery work isn’t cheap, and the time investment can be substantial.
Still, many commenters embraced the idea. Some praised the salesperson’s transparency and creativity, while others admitted they wished they’d known about these options before buying their own cars. A few, however, questioned whether such personalized interiors would help or hurt resale value.
Whether it’s a smart investment or pure self-expression, the video exposed a truth many buyers overlook: with enough money and the right connections, the “standard interior” is just the starting point.
